How does OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP differ from other hand disinfectants that contain the active ingredient hydrogen peroxide?

Hydrogen peroxide disinfects the skin like for example alcohol, with an immediate effect. OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP however, has the same immediate effect but also has a long-lasting effect continuing to destroy viruses and bacteria that come into contact with the skin over time (+120 minutes).

Is the product used in other countries?

The product is used in various EU countries such as Sweden, Finland, Austria and Switzerland.

Can the product be taken on board an airplane?

The 100 ml pack can be taken on board. In addition, the OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP disinfectant is not flammable.

How quickly does the product provide protection?

The effect of the product is activated approximately 1 minute after rubbing it on your skin. It is recommended to let the product dry on the skin itself.

Has the product been scientifically tested?

OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP has been scientifically tested in accordance with EU standards EN 14476 and EN 1500. The results of the tests show that the product effectively kills viruses, bacteria and fungi. In the case of viruses, the product kills coronavirus and other enveloped viruses such as influenza A and B, Ebola, RSV and non-enveloped viruses such as noroviruses and enteroviruses.

Why do my hands smell of vinegar when using the product?

OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP is odourless in itself. However, when the product is destroying microbes (virus and bacteria) on the skin, a gas in formed. This gas has a vinegar-like smell. The more microbes on the skin, the stronger the smell. The smell is less prominent when the product is applied after washing & drying the hands. The smell will also be less notable after using the product repeatedly.

How does OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP work?

The hydrogen peroxide contained in the product is microencapsulated, which ensures a slow and long-term release of hydrogen peroxide. As a result, OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP will ensure an immediate as well as a long-term effect in destroying microbes (virus and bacteria) on the skin.

Can I take the product with me in a smaller bottle?

The product is also available in a travel-size 100 ml bottle that is easy to carry.

Do common disinfectants kill viruses like Corona?

A strong hand disinfectant can destroy viruses, but its effects are short-term only. OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP will have an immediate as well as a long-term effect.

How does Virus Stop differ from other disinfectants?

Alcohol-based disinfectants temporarily destroy microbes on the skin, while hydrogen peroxide-based OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP provides immediate and long-term action on the skin.

How does 120-minute protection work?

The product forms like a protective film on the skin surface thanks to the microencapsulated active ingredient hydrogen peroxide. This way the product will ensure an immediate but also a long-term action on the skin, continuing to actively destroy microbes over time (+120 minutes).

Does the effect of OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP end immediately after 120 minutes or does its effect gradually wear off?

The effect of the product gradually decreases. The protective film formed by the product wears out in use, so its duration depends on what you do with your hands. Always re-apply after washing the hands.

Is OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP used in hospitals?

OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP was originally developed for hospital use, now the product is also available for consumers. It is used in Hospitals in Sweden (Karolinska Univeristetssjukhuset).

Is the product perfumed?

The product does not contain any added fragrance. It is in itself colourless.

When should you use the product?

You could use the product when you want to have additional protection against infectious diseases and bacteria. This could include public transport, while travelling, shopping, and other situations where you may be in contact with many people and thus potentially viruses and bacteria.Why do my hands sting when I use the product?

Oxiskin Plus Virus Stop is very effective and oxidizes on minor skin cracks in the hands. When the product reacts with biomass (bacteria / viruses / fungi), small oxygen bubbles form when the hands are dry and the skin is cracked. The reaction and the bubbles can tingle / sting. This feeling usually disappears after repeated use. Our skin reacts differently to different substances. So if you have sensitive skin, try a smaller amount first to make sure the product is right for you.

I feel a stinging sensation when I use the product. Why is that?

The active ingredient hydrogen peroxide in OXISKIN®PLUS VIRUS STOP is activated on the skin and will work to destroy any viruses and bacteria (microbes). Minor cracks, cuts and dry areas in the skin could have dead skin tissue. This dead skin will also activate a reaction that can feel as a sting or tingle. This feeling is usually minor and will disappears after repeated use. However, should you have very sensitive skin we recommend trying the product first on a small area to make sure the product is right to you.

It looks like white dots appear on my hands. Why is that?

The phenomenon you described is due to the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with microbes and dead skin on the hands. The reaction can be caused by very dry hands, hands with rash, wounds or cracks. In other cases, the reaction has been caused by dirt on the hands or possibly hand cream or the use of an alcoholic product prior to Oxiskin®Plus. The reaction in itself is not dangerous and the dots will disappear after a while. For some the dots can be followed by a light stinging sensation on the hands. This too will pass and is a temporary reaction. In essence, the reaction is actually the active ingredient hydrogen peroxide reacting (oxidizing) to something in your hands and the white spots are a residual product of the oxidation.

How do I use OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP?

First wash your hands with soap and water. Dry your hands. Apply some OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP to your hands and rub all around. Remember the thumb and between the fingers. Let your hands dry by themselves. If you cannot wash your hands, apply the product directly to dry hands, proceed as described above.

Can I use the product to protect and disinfect my face and / or body?

You can, the product is suitable for hand and body disinfection. However, make sure that the product does not get into your mouth, eyes or mucous membranes.

Can the product also be used for children?

Yes, OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP is also suitable for children.

How do I wash the product off my skin?

The product can be washed off the skin with soap and water.

How often should the product be used?

OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP can be used regularly when needed. It is recommended to re-apply the product every two hours or after washing your hands.

Can I use the product for my pet?

The product can be used on pets but should not come into contact with mucous membranes (nose, ears, mouth) or eyes. It is suitable for example to use on paws.

Can kids use OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP?

There is no age limit for using the product, it is also suitable for young children. Avoid contact with mucous membranes (mouth, nose, ears) and eyes.

Can I use the product at the same time as other skin care products?

The product can be used with other skin care products, but simultaneous use can reduce the effectiveness of the product. For best results, wash your hands before use and use only OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP.

I handle many different products with a cash register belt; Does the product wear out of my hands?

Yes, physical wear shortens the life of the product. You can slow down the wear and tear of the product by spreading it on clean hands and wearing gloves over the product. You can also re-apply more frequently than every 2 hours.

Can the product also be used to clean and protect the face and / or body?

You can use OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP on your entire body. It will actively destroy viruses and bacteria on the skin. Avoid contact with mucous membranes (mouth, nose, ears) and eyes.

Should the hands be washed with soap before applying OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP?

To ensure the effectiveness of the product, it is recommended that you wash your hands with soap and water before use and dry thoroughly. If you cannot wash your hands, you can apply the product directly to dry skin.

For how long should OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP be rubbed in the hands?

We recommend massaging the product in your hands for about half a minute and allowing it to dry half a minute for full protection.

How can I apply the product so that every place is covered in my hands?

Rub the liquid thoroughly all over the hands, including between the fingers and around the thumbs for about half a minute and let the hands dry naturally. For optimal result, wash the hands with soap and water first.

Will virus resistance develop over time?

Since the effect is based on the destruction of the microbial (viral and bacterial) structures of the released oxygen, no resistance to the substance is formed.

Is the product intended for long-term use?

The product can be used also over longer periods of time. The product does not dry your skin, even after prolonged use.

Should the product be re-applied after every hand wash?

Yes. To maintain protection, we recommend that you always apply the product after hand

Does the product stain clothing / surfaces?

It is advisable to avoid having large amounts of product onto a surfaces/ on clothing, since hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching agent. In such event, rinse with water.

Do I get longer and / or more effective protection if I apply the product on multiple layers?

Basically yes, because the abundant use of the product increases the effect. Above all, we recommend that you ensure that you apply the substance to your hands according to the instructions from the authorities in your countries for full protection. 

Can I use the product to disinfect surfaces, i.e. a cash register?

In essence the product will work actively also on surfaces, however you need to make sure the surface will not be harmed by the active ingredient hydrogen peroxide. This OXISKIN®PLUS VIRUS STOP is created for the disinfecting the skin, namely the hands. 

Can I use the product with / on my work gloves?

Yes. However, we recommend that you make sure in advance that the product does not destroy or contaminate the gloves by applying a small amount of the substance to a non-visible area.

Can OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP be placed on damp hands?

The product can be used on wet hands; however, it works best on dry skin. The effect can be reduced if the hands are very damp, as the substance can fall off the skin when applied.

How much product should be put in your hands?

Apply enough product to wet the surface of the skin. The appropriate amount for an adult is about 3 ml, which is approximately a teaspoon.

Is hydrogen peroxide toxic?

The hydrogen peroxide used in OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP is classified as safe to use. However, contact of the product with the mucous membranes must be avoided to avoid possible irritation.

I have sensitive skin. Can I use the product?

OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP does not dry out the skin. It is also suitable for sensitive skin.

What do I do if the product gets into my mouth?

Wash out mouth with water. Then drink water or milk.

Is the product toxic to children?

The product is not classified as harmful to health, but its contact with the eyes or mucous membranes should be avoided. Since the product is not corrosive and non-flammable, it is a good choice when being around children.

How does skin an atopic condition withstand hydrogen peroxide based OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP?

Oxiskin®Plus Virus Stop is an alternative to atopic skin as it does not contain an alcohol-base (likely to dry out the skin). If the skin is in very rough/dry condition it might take some time for it to fully adapt to the use of hydrogen peroxide (tingling, stinging).

What do I do if the product gets onto textiles?

OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP can possibly bleach textiles if applied in large quantities. Should this occur, rinse the fabric or garment with water to reduce the whitening tendency of the product.

Is hydrogen peroxide irritating to the skin?

Hydrogen peroxide, the active ingredient in OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP is generally well tolerated on the skin, however, can irritate the mucous membranes. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nostrils, ears or other mucous membranes.

Can I use the product while breastfeeding?

OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP is suitable for the whole family, including breastfeeding mothers.

What do I do if a child drinks the product?

Rinse the child's mouth with water. Then give milk or water to drink. Take the child for treatment if necessary.

What do I do if the product gets into my eyes?

Rinse eyes thoroughly with water. Remove possible contact lenses.

Can I be allergic to OXISKIN®PLUS VIRUS STOP?

The product does not contain any known allergens; however, one can have a skin-sensitivity to almost any substance. If the skin has a harsh reaction, rinse your hands with water. Eventually re-apply the product first to a small area of the skin.

Is OXISKIN® PLUS VIRUS STOP harmful to nature?

When decomposing, the product will become water and oxygen. There are not any harmful long-term effects for our surroundings.
